Scoil Mhuire is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of the Dioscese of Waterford & Lismore. The Board of Management is responsible for the overall management of the school, with the Principal being responsible for the school's day-to-day running.

The board consists of a Chairperson (usually the parish priest), Principal and Bishop's Nominee, with additional members elected for 3-year terms. A Teacher's Representative is elected from within the teaching staff. Parents are invited to elect a Mothers' and a Fathers' Representative from within the parent body. These six officers then jointly invite two members of the wider community to join the board as Community Representatives. After this, a Treasurer is elected from within the board. The role of Secretary may or may not be filled by the Principal.
